Bringing back a player like Laudon gives us many great attributes. He has size and versatility that are hard to find. Gaining pro experience at the end of last season will pay dividends for the continued growth of his game. Poellinger, a 6’3″ defenseman, rejoins the Ice Flyers after a 7-game stint to close out the 2024-25 season. Prior to Pensacola, he appeared in 7 games with the Peoria Rivermen during the same season. Though he played only 14 games last year in the SPHL, Poellinger also made his mark at the collegiate level with NCAA Division III Saint Mary’s University. Poellinger is looking forward to reuniting with Pensacola, stating

Dawson Sciarrino has quality offensive instincts, coming off a great four-year college career where he improved statistically every season. I see his offensive proficiency transferring to pro hockey and look forward to the opportunity to aid in polishing his game at the pro level with the Ice Flyers.

Sciarrino, a 5’11” forward, joins the Ice Flyers for his SPHL rookie season following a four-year NCAA Division III career at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. As Jeremy Gates stated, Sciarrino improved statistically each year, ending with a 32-point senior season (16g, 16a) across 26 games.

Although new to Pensacola, Sciarrino will see some familiar faces in the locker room, including former college teammate Tyler German. Looking ahead to his time in Pensacola, Sciarrino said,

I’m just super excited to be a part of something special in Pensacola and help get the Ice Flyers back on top.

Mastrangeli, a 5’11 defenseman, joins the Ice Flyers for the 2025–26 season following a 7-game stint for the Macon Mayhem last year, where he recorded 4 points on 3 assists and 1 goal. Prior to the Mayhem, Mastrangeli spent 4 years at Elmira College (NCAA III), appearing in 97 games, tallying 76 points, and was part of the 2021 UCHC Championship team. Mastrangeli is looking forward to his debut in the Hangar, stating: “I am beyond grateful and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Ice Flyers family. You can expect me to show up every night with heart and the drive to help this team create a winning culture.”

The post Power Forward Jirousek Returns to The Ice Flyers first appeared on Pensacola Ice Flyers.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Justin and his family to the Ice Flyers organization,” said Ice Flyers Head Coach Jeremy Gates. “His recent success at the University of Ottawa aligns perfectly with the culture and goals we’re building here. His background in developing players makes him a tremendous asset, and I’m excited to work alongside him.”

Stevens brings a long-standing connection with Gates, dating back to the 2011-12 season with the Pembroke Lumber Kings, a Junior team playing in the Central Canada Hockey League. At the time, Gates was completing his internship and working as an Assistant under Head Coach Sheldon Keefe, who is the current Head Coach of the New Jersey Devils in the NHL, and Stevens was a standout player known for his high hockey IQ and natural leadership. The two have remained in contact over the years as Stevens transitioned from playing to coaching.

“I’m very familiar with the Ice Flyers’ history and the strong tradition that has been built in Pensacola. The team has consistently been one of the league’s premier organizations, with multiple President’s Cup championships. The success this franchise has had over the years speaks to strong leadership, a clear standard, and a winning mindset, and I’m proud to be joining a team with that kind of legacy. I’m excited to help continue that tradition and push it even further.”

Prior to his time at Ottawa, Stevens was the Associate Head Coach with University of Guelph, guiding the team to multiple conference titles. Stevens now brings his championship pedigree to the SPHL and the Ice Flyers bench.

“I was drawn to this opportunity because of the Ice Flyers’ strong tradition of winning, commitment to player development, and organizational professionalism,” Stevens said. “The chance to work with Jeremy Gates and Greg Harris was incredibly appealing. From both a coaching and character standpoint, this is a place where I believe I can contribute and help bring another championship to Pensacola.”

Faulkner, a 6’4 defenseman, returns to the Ice Flyers following the 2024–25 season, where he tallied 9 points (5G, 4A) across 54 appearances. A four-year SPHL veteran, Faulkner has seen time in several league cities, including Evansville (2021–23), Macon (2022–24), Fayetteville (2023–24), and most recently, Pensacola. When asked about this offseason, Faulkner shared,

I teach hockey throughout the summer and have been focusing on improving my mobility, speed, and fundamentals for the upcoming season.

During his NCAA Division III career, German tallied 39 points (14g, 25a) and helped lead University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to 2 WIAC Championships. When asked about his personal growth heading into this season, he stated,

Susinski, a 6’4 defenseman, returns to the Ice Flyers for the 2025–26 season. He began the 2024–25 campaign in Pensacola before being placed on waivers and claimed by the Macon Mayhem. Susinski appeared in 40 games for the Ice Flyers in 2024-25, recording 6 points (2g, 4a), and then went on to play 11 games with the Mayhem to close out the season. Susinski is looking forward to returning to the Hangar and the Pensacola community.

Before his time in Pensacola, Wiesner spent two seasons with the Birmingham Bulls, recording 60 points (26g, 34a). Now entering his fourth year in the SPHL, Wiesner is focused and determined.
